Gary Allen Cooper

Gary Allen Cooper, 63 of LeMars, IA and formerly of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 2, 2015 at a LeMars hospital. A one hour Visitation will be held 9:30 am Saturday, October 10, 2015 followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Mass at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel. Father Dennis Meinen will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Gary was born June 26, 1952 in Bangor, ME; he was the son of Bernard "Beanie" and Ruby (Jordahl) Cooper. Gary's formative years were in Algona, IA. The family moved to Sioux City where Gary graduated with honors from Heelan High School and Briar Cliff College. Gary was a gifted spiritual writer and avid reader. He treasured his family and was a good and generous friend to many. Survivors include his mother Ruby of Sioux City; his brothers and sisters: Mike Cooper (Sandy) of Sun City West, AZ, Kathy Cooper of Medford, OR, Pat Cooper (Anita) of Eagan, MN, Tim Cooper (Peggy) of Eagle, ID, Mary Merrigan (Nick) of Vermillion, SD, Linda Cooper of Omaha, NE, Chris Johnson (Craig) of Vermillion, SD; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father Beanie and 2 brothers John and Thomas.
