Kenneth F. Lamaak, 83, of Sioux City passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Clem officiating. Military graveside honors will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by the U.S. Army Reserves. Visitation will be on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Kenneth was born on June 23, 1932 in Wall Lake, IA to Hans and Alma (Koster) Lamaak. He was baptized at Wheatland Church in Breda, IA. He was raised on the family farm near Wall Lake and attended Wall Lake schools. He moved to Sioux City in 1951 and started working for Swift & Co. He joined the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean War in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage to Peggy Hamann on August 21, 1959 in Sioux City. Kenneth worked for 32 years at Swift & Co. and also owned and operated Kenny's TV for 50 plus years. Ken loved to golf, hike, travel and go for walks. Ken and Peggy loved spending their winters in Arizona. He was very patriotic and had a deep love for God and his family. He was a member of Rustin Ave. United Methodist where he held numerous past church offices and helped on countless projects. He was also a member of the American Legion Monahan Post #64. Ken was also proud to have been an active blood donor. He is survived by his wife Peggy Lamaak of Sioux City; daughters Deborah (Tim) McCrea of Cedar Falls, IA; and Sandy Lamaak of St. Louis, MO; son Gary (Mary) Lamaak of Collinsville, OK; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother Lloyd Lamaak of Pueblo, CO; sisters Norma Jean Demey of Carroll, IA; and Mary Ann (Jerry) Murr of Corning, MO; sister-in-law Anna Lamaak of Sioux City; brother-in-law Tom Malone of IA; sister-in-law Nancy Beargeon of Sioux City; brother-in-law Tom (Carol) Hamann of Sioux City; many nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Bernetta Lamaak; brothers Norman and Phillip Lamaak; sister Janis Malone; and a great granddaughter Katelyn Rose Frazier.
