Mark Clause

Mark L. Clause, age 77, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015, at a local nursing home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 28, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Deacon Patricia Roberts, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Miller, Steve Felix, Dan Harmeier, Jim White, David Raasch and Ron Clausen. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Mark, son of Floyd and Teresa (Ide) Clause, was born November 15, 1937, in Sioux City. He attended schools in Sioux City. Mark then worked for Terminal Grain, at the Big Soo Terminal, for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. On June 17, 1994, Mark was united in marriage with Judy Rathel at Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Mark and Judy enjoyed traveling in their retirement, including Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, cruises to the Bahamas and to Alaska. Mark also enjoyed NASCAR racing, going to races at Daytona, Charlotte, and Atlanta Speedways to attend Sprint Cup races. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls, attending one of their games and watching all NBA games. Mark and Judy were "snow birds" spending winters in Daytona Beach, Florida and also Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Survivors include his wife Judy of Sioux City; sons Ron and wife Mary of Sioux City; Craig and wife Darla of West Point, Nebraska; Rex and Barb of Kansas; and a daughter Vicki and husband Romy Lopez of VanAlstyne, Texas; three sisters: Connie and Richard Sampers of Red Oak; Sharon and Stan Spangler of O'Neill, Nebraska; and Sandy and Craig Livingston of Canistota, South Dakota; a sister-in-law Marie and Larry Smalley of Norfolk, Nebraska; grandchildren: Elizabeth Jacobson and Aaron Hein; Rebecca and Justin Jacobson; Jessi, Randi, Heath and Heather Clause; Steven Jester; great-granddaughters: Shaylee, Kambell, Jauzlynn and Olivia; great-grandsons: Landon and Jacob; and nieces and nephews. Mark is also survived by a very special niece Shawnda and husband Mike Garcia and their daughter Taylor of Zeeland, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dick Clause and Eugene, in infancy. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice, the Siouxland Humane Society or Noah's Hope Animal Rescue.
