Helen D. McMaster, 89 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 at a Sioux City nursing facility. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Saturday, September 12, 2015 with Graveside Prayers offered at 11:00 a.m. Visitation, with family present, will be one hour prior to Thursday's service. Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Helen was born on June 27, 1926 in Denver, Colorado to Malcolm and Jessie (Carmen) Dennison. She graduated from East High School, and attended Monticello College in Alton, Illinois. Helen married Samuel A. McMaster on March 19, 1946 in Denver, Colorado. She was very active in Siouxland organizations. Helen helped organize the PTA in South Sioux City in 1953 and was the recipient of the Nebraska PTA Honorary Life Membership Award. She organized the Girl Scouts in Sioux City in 1955, of which she was a leader, and neighborhood chairman. She served on the Board of Directors of the Sioux Trails Council, and in 1960, helped organize a junior golf program at the Sioux City Boat Club. Helen was the Co-Chairman of Dakota County United Way, and was on the Junior Achievement Board. She was on the Board of Directors of the Siouxland Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Sioux City Symphony Women's Committee. Helen was a member of the GX Chapter of the PEO Organization. Helen was a member of the First Prebyterian Church in Sioux City, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a Deaconess. Helen is survived by her daughters Judith Merrit of Palmer, MA, Marjorie McMaster of Jacksonville, FL, Cynthia Engel of South Sioux City, NE, and Joan Robinette (Rick) of South Sioux City, NE; sister Marjorie Leaver of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren Bruce Cooey, Jay (Katie) Cooey, Mike Robinette, Katie (Ryan) Kock, Amy Robinette, Ashley (Alex) O'Dell, Adam Engel, and Whitney (Dan) Jucan; great-grandchildren Sam, Bella, Caden, Ali, Chloe, Bode, Brady, Brynn, Bryleigh, Khaia, Kyler, and Azalea. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Elizabeth Pearson.
