SIOUX CITY | Richard D. "Dick" Sharp, 62, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at a local hospital following a short illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Del Olivier, Dimitri Tobias and Lucas Rice officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present at 5:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Dick was born on July 25, 1953, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Max and Evelyn (Hansen) Sharp. Following graduation from Hampton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in Hawaii for four and one-half years. In 1976, Dick started at I.B.P. as a computer operator and was currently the director of Technology System Services for Tyson Foods. On July 5, 1981, he married Mary D. Stavros in Sioux City and became a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Dick loved to do yard work, with special attention to his flowers. He also enjoyed walking his dogs, Zoe and Copper. Dick will be remembered for being a great friend, mentor and problem solver as well as his many lifelong friendships. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sharp; his parents, Max and Evelyn Sharp of Hampton; a sister, Linda Sharp of Hampton; three brothers, Dale (Audrey) Sharp of Hampton, Clark (Delores) Sharp and Gary (Sandy) Sharp, all of Mason City, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Papageorgiou of Spartanburg, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Sharp; and his grandparents. Pallbearers will be Stelio Papageorgiou, Mark Sharp, Gary Sharp, Dale Sharp, Jordan Sharp, Chris Antonopoulos, Tyson Sharp and Demetre Papageorgiou. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Antonopoulos, Yiani Arvis, John Baryo, George Tsiobanos, Dave Marsh, Mike Michelakakis, Tim Konidas, Andy Sengos, Ted Michelakakis, Nick Kasotakis and Chris Isaac. Memorials may be made in his name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
