Carlton Pierce Smith, Jr, 24 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at his family's home from injuries suffered in an ATV accident. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Pierce was born December 28, 1990 in Sioux City; he is the son of Carlton and Kathy (Lohry) Smith. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from North High School in 2009 and played on the golf team. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado where he spent his free time outdoors snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, biking and going to concerts. He had recently transferred to the University of Northern Iowa to finish his degree in Business. Pierce also enjoyed golfing, hunting, riding his dirtbike and ATV, and listening to music, enjoying good food, and above all spending time with his close family and friends. Survivors include his parents and best friends: Carlton and Kathy Smith of Sioux City; his sister: Kendra Smith and her boyfriend Shaun Linderbaum of Cedar Falls, IA; paternal grandmother: Henrietta Smith Jacobsen of Sioux City; maternal grandmother: Doris Lohry of Sioux City. Pierce is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Pierce was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Chesley Smith and maternal grandfather: Kermit Lohry. Honorary pallbearers will be Weston Lohry, Andrew Lohry, Shaun Linderbaum, Eric Krage and Alex Searls. Memorials may be directed to the Sioux City Humane Society or the Siouxland Youth Golf Association (First Tee).
