James K. Taylor, 81 of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Rev. Donald Ries will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Jim was born August 27, 1933 in Sioux City; he was the son of Dallas and Alice (Harward) Taylor. Jim graduated from Leeds High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956. Jim graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in business and then received his master's degree in social work form St. Louis University in 1962. Upon graduating from college, Jim started working for Catholic Charities in Sioux City as a mental health therapist and later became the executive director of Catholic Charities retiring in 1995. Survivors include a niece, Gayle Taylor of Sioux City; a nephew, Michael Taylor (Marilyn) of Sioux City; great nephew, Travis Taylor (Tony) of Omaha; 2 aunts, Helen Michaelson (Bernard) of Kansas City, MO and Lois Harward of Sioux City; sister in law, Peggy Taylor of Sioux City; a cousin, Glenda Hanson of Sioux City; and a special friend Audra Cole of Sioux City.
