Earl V. Sitzmann, 87 of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. His brother, Rev. Richard Sitzmann will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery rural Neptune, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Earl was born May 17, 1928 on the family farm near Hinton, IA; he was the son of Arnold and Olive (Strub) Sitzmann. Earl graduated from Trinity High School in 1945. He was a farm laborer and carpenter's assistant. Earl was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars. He enjoyed reading and watching sports on TV. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed attending a game in Dallas, TX. Earl was also a longtime member of the Farm Bureau. Survivors include 4 sisters: Jean Sitzmann of Sioux City, Lois Hardy of Sioux City, Joyce Ryan (Leo) of Jupiter, FL, Connie Christiansen (John) of Dallas, TX; his brother: Rev. Richard Sitzmann of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Don and Jim Sitzmann, a brother in law: Ken Hardy; a sister in law: Joan (McColligan) Sitzmann; 2 nephews: Donnie and Bradley Sitzmann
