R. Sam Krage, 86 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Sam was born January 22, 1929 in Sioux City; he was the son of Roy S. and Helen B. (Betz) Krage. Sam grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. Sam married Joyce E. Steinback August 10, 1950 in Yankton, SD. To this union six children were born. Sam and Joyce just celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary. Sam was in the earthmoving business for over 30 years. He stayed active in the construction industry until 2012. He was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Sam enjoyed 60 years of family get togethers at the family acreage. Survivors include his wife Joyce of Sioux City; 6 children: Jack S. Krage (Sherry) of Sioux City, Tom Krage (Susan) of Westminster, CO, Stephen Krage (Veronica) of Sioux City, Joy Johnson (Brad) of Douglas, WY, Sam J. Krage (Brenda) of Pueblo, CO, Paula Serbinin (Igor) of Boulder, CO; 5 brothers and sisters: Ron Krage (Joan) of Sioux City, Barb Nicknish (Tom) of Iowa City, IA, Marilyn Higgins (Bob) of West Lake Okoboji, IA, Colonel Krage (Jeanette) of Sioux City, Mary Alice Swanson (Chuck) of Clinton, IA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Helen Ann Feste and Blanche B. Ward.
