Roger Hinrichsen

Roger Hinrichsen, age 77, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away into God's arms on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at home with his family present, following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Roger Paul, son of Herbert H. and Elsie (Neddermeyer) Hinrichsen, was born December 22, 1937, in Castana, Iowa. The family farmed in the Ute, Iowa area. On February 19, 1956, Roger was united in marriage with Janice B. Dale. They spent the majority of their 59 married years in rural Sioux City. Roger worked for Ford Motor and Hoak Oldsmobile early in his career. He was self-employed as owner of Roger's Body Shop and farmed since the 1970s. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Roger was a happy man. He finished his life on this earth with all the desires of the heart: His loving wife Janice, his family who adored him and all his friends who were many. In addition to this, he was on the farm he loved and surrounded by tractors which brought him joy. Farming and restoring antique tractors were his passion. He was a friend to all and loved to have people stop by. He died a contented, blessed man. Roger is survived by his wife Janice; his son David Hinrichsen and wife Jan of Omaha, NE; his daughters: Carla Hinrichsen Monk of Sioux City, IA and Christine Constien and husband David of New Lenox, IL. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him, and one sister Joyce Downing of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Elsie; his brothers: Lowell, Earl and Orville; his sister Shirley Hinrichsen Lee; and his sweet baby grandson Cody Sim Monk. Any memorials for Roger can be made to the family, in care of Janice Hinrichsen, for the family to direct as they wish.
