Carol A. Schmitt

Carol A. Schmitt, 83, of Sioux City passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at a local care center. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend R. Paul Johnston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Carol was born April 7, 1932 in Freeport, IL the daughter of William and Bertha (Hoffmeyer) Meinen. She was raised in Hull, Iowa. Carol married Leonard Schmitt on August 18, 1951. She worked for Hymann Freightways for 25 years before retirement and then the Sioux City School System for 12 years before fully retiring. Carol was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the past president and treasurer for the Northwest Iowa Teamsters for 23 years. She is survived by her husband Leonard; daughters Debbie Campbell of Tampa, FL and Pamela Davis of Sioux City; 4 grandchildren: Abby Davis, Brooke (Adam) Carstensen, Ambre O'Gara, and Drew Campbell; and 2 great grandsons. Carol was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Schmitt.
