John Herman "Jack" Suhr, 86, of Sioux City passed away Sunday August 2, 2015 at a Sioux City nursing home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 5, 2015 at Morgan Township Cemetery Schleswig, Iowa. John Suhr was born February 23, 1929 in Denison, Iowa the son of John A. and Marie (Otto) Suhr. Mr. Suhr graduated from high school. He served his country and entered the United States Army May 5, 1951and received his honorable discharge May 4, 1953. John married Joye Bell on September 17, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa. Into this marriage three daughters were born. John had a strong faith in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. John was employed as a Cement Salesman for Ash Grove Cement. John was well known for his work on restoring his Ford Shelby Mustangs. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. John is survived by his wife Joye, three daughters: Rebecca Amensen of San Diego Ca, Cindee Van Meter of Sioux City and Mindee Gaskell of Sioux City. Four grandchildren: Jason Nordgen and his wife Kathryn, Matthew Van Meter and his wife Kelli, Sara Van Meter and Zachary Gaskell and his fiancee Amber Beasley and her daughter Chloe, three Great-Grandchildren Christopher, Jacob and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenneth Suhr.
