Elaine Joyce Strong

Elaine Strong, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at her home in Sioux City. As per Elaine's wishes, no services will be held. Elaine Joyce, daughter of Harold and Gladis (Lower) Jammerthal, was born February 9, 1930, in Akron, Iowa. She grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron High School. On May 11, 1964, Elaine was united in marriage with Jack L. Strong at Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. Elaine and Jack raised seven children. Elaine and Jack made their home in Sioux City where she worked at Aalfs Manufacturing, Zenith, Westwood Nursing Home and at her own home raising her family. Survivors include: her husband Jack L. Strong; seven children: Earlzie (Alan) Thiele, Melissa (Mitch) Streit, Melinda Strong, Melanie, Strong, Melista Strong, Melorie Strong, and Chris (Michelle) Strong; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lorraine Kiewel and Lola Prothero. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Darlene, Shirley, Imogene and LoisAnn; a brother Harold (Bud); and three infant siblings: Audrey, Dean and Carol.
