Donovan R. Chrestensen,Sr. 77 of Sioux City passed away Monday July 13, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be Thursday July 16, 2015 from 5 till 7 p.m. with the family present at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Donovan R. Chrestensen was born September 17, 1937 in New Castle Nebraska the son of John W. and Iva (Berger) Chrestensen. Mr. Chrestensen married Betty Potter November 24, 1956 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Into this marriage five children were born. Donovan served in the United States Army from September 21, 1954 receiving his Honorable Discharge on September 4, 1957. Following his return from the service Mr. Chrestensen was employed in the roofing business with Guarantee Roofing for 28 ½ years. Mr. Chrestensen was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Mr. Chrestensen was a member of the V.F. W. In his free time he loved to tinker in his tool room and was always willing to help a friend or family member in need with any project. Mr. Chrestensen is survived by his wife, of Sioux City two sons; Donovan Jr. and his wife Laura Chrestensen, of Moscow Mills, MO. Bruce A. Chrestensen of Sioux City and one daughter Deanna Wright and her husband Tom of Sioux City. Former daughter in law Barbara Chrestensen of Sioux City. Six grandchildren; Melissa Kleinschmidt and her husband Chris, Mindy Ruble and her husband Mike, Nathan Chrestensen and his wife Hilary, James Joseph Chrestensen Jr., Amberlyn Chrestensen and Lina Crow and her husband Tony. Several nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, One Daughter JoDean Chrestensen and one son James Chrestensen two brothers; Richard and Jack, five sisters; Ruby Kelly, Faye Graves, Joyce Blanford, Jean Powell and Lorraine Charbonneau.
