Harlan R. Holtz, 87, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial and Military Honors conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, IA. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Harlan was a career service man in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1966 as a Master Sergeant. He was married to Vicki H. Cetindal on May 31, 1952 in Ankara, Turkey. Together they travelled the world at a young age while Harlan served in the military. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2014 in Garretson, SD. Harlan enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and reading. In his spare time he enjoyed doing anything pertaining to yard work and gardening. He loved the challenge of building and creating things using only his imagination. Harlan is survived by his son Steve (Sunny) Holtz of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Sophie and Colby Holtz of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers and sisters, Jim (Delphine) Holtz of Rochester, Minn., Marvin (Brenda) Holtz of Moville, Iowa, Louis Holtz of Sioux City, Jon Holtz of Merrill, Betty Ahlf of South Sioux City, Darlene Vick and Judy Diller of Litchfield, Minn., Carol (Dan) Gazinski of Omaha, Janet Doyle and Mary Jane Norton of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, family dogs Skipper 1, Skipper 2 and Duke- brothers Art, Joe, Bob , Dale,and Melvin. Pallbearers for the service will be Marvin Holtz, Louis Holtz, Greg Holtz, Brad Diller, Jon Nester, and Dan Lundeen.
