Dennis G. "Bing" Welte, 84 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Church. Visitation will resume at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Church. There will be a rosary recited by the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus at 6:30 Monday and a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Monday all at the Church. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard and do a Chalice Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Bing was born November 6, 1930 in Danbury, IA; he was the son of Gerald and Laura (Collins) Welte. He grew up in Danbury and graduated from St. Mary's Academy. Bing served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Verna Rausch February 4, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, IA. Bing began his career with Palmer Candy in 1956 and retired from there in 1996. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Bing was also a member of the American Legion. Bing enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing cards and sports. Survivors include his wife Verna of Sioux City; 8 children: Mark Welte (Janet), Kevin Welte (Sheryl), Doug Welte (Liane), Rick Welte (Sherry), Laurie Dougherty (Marty) all of Sioux City, Donna Hirsch (Ron) of Jackson, NE, Paula Oehlerking (Darlowe) of Sioux City, David Welte (Abby) of Sioux City; his brothers and sisters: Jean Burrus of Sioux City, Joyce Jackson of Austin, TX, Mary Jo Person of Fargo, ND, Mike Welte of Sioux City, Ed Welte (Pat) of Danbury, IA, Tim Welte (Robin) of Danbury, IA; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Bing was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Evelyn Ahlwardt and Sara Welte, a brother: Pat Welte
