Doris Jean Bogaard, 80, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Whitfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Liz Tucker officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Doris was born September 17, 1934 in Sioux City, the daughter of Lloyd and Leona (Matthews) Lee. She attended Riverside School and worked at Palmer Candy and Bishop Cafeteria before marrying Jack R. Bogaard on November 7, 1953 in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2004. Doris was active with the PTA and Whitfield United Methodist Church, serving in the Ruth Circle and Peanut Brittle Committee. Her greatest love was taking care of her family. Doris is survived by her sons: Chuck (Roxie) Bogaard of Sioux City, Dennis (Linda) Bogaard of Cedar Falls, IA, and Stanley Bogaard of Sioux City; grandchildren: Cassandra (Joe) Sandman, Jonathan, Matthew, Allison, and Lisa (Mike) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, two brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland or Whitfield United Methodist Church in Doris's Memory.
