Darleen Cale, age 92, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at a local nursing facility. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Interment will follow at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 PM to 8 PM on Monday, June 22, 2015, at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, where the family will be present from 6 PM to 8 PM and a Prayer Service will be held at 7 PM. Online condolences may be left at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Darleen, daughter of Gus and Minnie (Kammeir) Knorr, was born October 29, 1922, at Merrill, Iowa. She grew up near Brewster, Minnesota. On May 5, 1951, Darleen was united in marriage with Robert J. Cale in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux City and Darleen worked for the telephone company, retiring after 40 years. Darleen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers. She liked to crochet, read, travel, and spend time with her grandchildren. Darleen is survived by: two sons: Larry (Andrea) Cale and Bradley (Kim) Cale, all of Sioux City; a daughter Linda (Todd) Cook of McCook Lake, South Dakota; Grandchildren: Matt, Jason(Missi), Kelli(Matt), Adam(Renee), Dustin(Angie), Jeremy, Carrie(Jim), Christy, Nathan, Courtney, Mikaela, Shanna (Todd), Heather, Paul, and Cara(Mark); 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild: two brothers: Bob Knorr and Fred Knorr; two sisters: Joyce Schwiegert and Tootie Schwartz; and a sister-in-law Shirley Griffith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son Bruce.
