Richard "Rick" Dennis Redmond, 59, of Papillion, NE formally of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Cathedral of the Epiphany with Father William J. Vit Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. with family present from 6-8 P.M., a rosary at 6:30 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Richard was born November 16, 1955 in Sioux City, the son of James Lawrence and Rachael Julia (Lamoureux) Redmond. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School. Richard enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1977. He married Leila Larvick on April 29, 1978 in Sioux City. To this union, eight children were born. Richard worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years until his retirement in December 2014. He enjoyed golf, pool, and watching his children and grandchildren's activities. Survivors include his wife Leila (Larvick) Redmond of Papillion, NE; children: Rachael (Mark) Sorensen of Sioux City, Jessica Redmond of Ames, IA, Owen Redmond of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Redmond of Omaha, NE, Adam Redmond of Papillion, NE, James Lucas Redmond of Papillion, Carly Redmond of Omaha, NE and Lauren Redmond of Papillion, NE; 8 grandchildren: Kaleb and Trenton Sorensen, Alex and Lilly Reinstein, Emma Redmond, Parker Pittman, and Austin and Julian Redmond; three brothers: Maurice (Fran) Redmond, James (Daphne) Redmond, and Thomas (Jan) Redmond; four sisters: Mary Ann (Frank) Audino, Kathleen (James) Riley, Susan Craig, and Patricia Redmond; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Redmond, sister in law Helen Redmond and infant brother James Arthur Redmond. Pallbearers will be Michael Audino, Jason Nelson, Zachary Nelson, Patrick Redmond, Damon Redmond, and Deric Redmond.
