Janet Schoenherr, age 73, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at her home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 PM to 8 PM, on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, where the family will be present from 6 PM to 8 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM. Online condolences may be left at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Janet Ann, daughter of Matt and Cecilia (Uhl) Flammang, was born July 20, 1942, at Mapleton, Iowa. She grew up at Mapleton and where she attended school. She then worked as a nurse's aide in nursing facility. On September 12, 1964, Janet was united in marriage with Leonard J. Schoenherr in Sioux City. Five children were born to this union. The couple made their home in Sioux City where Janet enjoyed raising her children and babysitting. Janet was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, doing cross stitch and crossword puzzles. Janet cherished the time spent with her family, kids and grandkids. Janet is survived by: two sons David (Jill) Schoenherr of Sioux City and Leonard (Deanna) Schoenherr Jr. of Florida; three daughters: Kimberly (Lynn) Smith of LeMars, Cindy Poppema of Sioux City and Tammy Schoenherr of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers Edwin (JoAnn) Flammang of Bronson and Roger (Linda)Flammang of Kingsley; and two sisters Sandra (Charlie) Bokemper of Sioux City and Sharon Langmeyer of LeMars. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a nephew Mark Bokemper.
