Kenneth Storm, 87, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his home. Per his wishes his body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Rev. Jill Clem officiating with military honors by the U.S. Air Force to follow. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Sunday. Private burial of his cremains will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Kenneth was born on March 6, 1928 to Benjamin C. and Marinus "Minnie" (Nieuwkoop) Verdoorn in Sheldon, IA. After graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1946. Kenneth proudly served his country for 21 years and served in the Korean War. He retired from service as a Master Sergeant in 1967. He united in marriage to Clara Flick in 1946 in Arizona. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2011. After retirement from the service, Kenneth sold insurance for 11 years. He also worked for Bekins Moving and Storage Company for 11 and spent 3 years working for Miller Medical Service. He was an avid golfer, a fan of the New England Patriots Football Team, watching tennis and he enjoyed listening to the Top 20 Country Countdown. Kenneth will be fondly remembered as a jokester always making people laugh. He is survived by his 3 daughters Trudy (Nelson) Henry of Sioux City; Kara (Donald) Prenger, Jr. of South Sioux City, NE; and Shari Storm of Sioux City; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Memorials may be made to the Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church Roof Fund or Hospice of Siouxland.
