Charlene M. Roepke, 86, of Hinton, IA passed away Thursday, June 04, 2015 peacefully at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 6th, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hinton with Reverend Steven Stoll officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Berger Northside Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Charlene was born September 8, 1928 in Craig, IA the daughter of Gert and Meta (Frerichs) Oltmanns. She graduated from Le Mars High School. Charlene married Darrell Roepke on September 8, 1948 in Le Mars and enjoyed 66 years of marriage on their Hinton acreage. Charlene worked as a nurse for St. Joseph Hospital and then Marian Health for 27 years before retiring. She then worked as a nurse for home health care. Charlene loved cooking, canning, and gardening but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her husband. Charlene is survived by husband Darrell Roepke of Hinton, IA; children: Gary Roepke of Merrill, IA, Pam Stoltze of Hinton, IA, and Jeri Lyn "Lynne" (Jerry) Dahl of Arlington, SD; daughter in law Glenda Roepke of Merrill, IA; Grandchildren: Tyrel Roepke (fiancé Alyssa), Stacie (Dennis) Haselhoff, Stanley (Tiffany) Stoltze, Amanda (Cody) Smith, Jodi Johnson, Lewis (Chas) Fleshner, Jessica (Trevor) Zeck, Linea Dahl (friend Jake), Jackie Baldwin, Stacy Kruse, Karlene (Dennis) Stabe, Darin Roepke (friend Tricia), Mindi (Todd) Allen, Amie (Troy) Henrich, Emily (Brian) Heidesch,; 28 great grandchildren; sister Elaine Wiederholt of Le Mars, IA and sister in law Helen (Leland) Sargisson of Kingsley, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Darrell Dean Roepke, daughter in law Carole Ann, son in law Mark Stoltze, and a great grandson Briggs Allen.
