John Richard Joaquin

February 12, 1944 — June 2, 2015

John R. "Jack" Joaquin, 71, of Dakota Dunes passed away June 2, 2015 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Del Olivier officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences can be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jack was born February 12, 1944 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of John and Marie (Lopes) Joaquin. After graduating high school, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. He married Jacilyn Vrba on January 6, 1988 in the Virgin Islands. Jack had a great passion for photography from the age of 16 and owned his own studio Jack Carrol Photography in Omaha, Nebraska. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Jack was very friendly, making friends with everyone he met, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Jacilyn Joaquin of Dakota Dunes; daughter Michele (Robert) von Hein of Uxbridge, MA; grandchildren: Thomas, Nicholas, Sara, and William; brother Gary (Alisa) Joaquin of Beaverton, OR and their daughter Lynne; Parents in law Charles and Elaine Vrba of David City, NE; sister in law Cynthia (Richard) Olsen of Omaha, NE and their daughter McKayla; brothers in law Charles Vrba of Schuyler, NE and his children Samantha and Joseph, and Robert (Darli) Vrba of Schuyler, NE and their children Ben and Jerry. Jack was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to give a special thanks to Charlene Grell with Synergy and Jill Vrieze with Mercy Home Care for their compassionate care.
