Bernard D. "Bud" Doenhoefer, 78 of Sioux City, formerly of Winnebago took his final journey on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 after a long illness. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Dakota City Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the United States Marine Corp. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Bernard was born on March 17, 1937 in Winnebago, Nebraska to John and Evelyn (Traub) Doenhoefer. After graduating from high school, Bernard served his country with the United States Marines. He was a type-setter in the publishing industry for many years. Bernard is survived by three brothers Tony (Geneva) of Winnebago, NE, Doug (Sherry) of Walthill, NE, James "Randy" (Shelly) of Sioux City; sister Cathie of Sioux City; daughter Kelly Eastwood of Maryland; nieces Tonya Munoz and Aleah Courtney; nephews Dakota Caskey, Micheal Short, and John Matthew Schonrock (who were his caregivers over the last few years); many other nieces and nephews; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gene and Robert, and sister Charlotte Short.
