Marianna (Katzenberger) Cunningham

Marianna (Katzenberger) Cunningham, 84, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Marianna was born January 28, 1931 in Sioux City, the daughter of Julius and Helen (Williams) Katzenberger. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1948. Marianna worked in the office of Swift Manufacturing and was present during the Swift explosion. She married Arnold Sardeson on April 29, 1950 in Sioux City, he preceded her in death on May 1, 1953 in Korea. Marianna married Leon Cunningham on May 6, 1961 in Sioux City and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1997 in Sioux City. Marianna enjoyed eating out with her family and especially loved Cajun food. She also liked planting her flowers and watching TV. Survivors include her son Patrick Cunningham of Sioux City; her stepchildren: James (Holly) Cunningham of Sioux City, Linda Kennedy of Hinton, IA, Steve Cunningham of Sioux City, and Joline Goosmann of Hinton, IA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; niece: Karen Mackey of Sioux City; and nephew: John Mackey Jr. of Beaverton, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three daughters: Stacy (Mel) Beccard, Beverly and Hope Sardeson, sons in law: Japper Kennedy and Mike Goosmann, stepson Robert Bardsley, sister Louise Mackey, and grandsons: Kelly Goosmann and James Borowsky. Memorials may be given to the Siouxland Humane Society in Marianna's memory.
