John H. Eik, Jr., 86, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 1, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. John was born November 17, 1928 in Sioux City, the son of John H. and Lillian (Smith) Eik Sr. He attended Sioux City schools and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945. John was a seaman apprentice serving on the USS Fall River until his honorable discharge in 1948. He married Geraldine Woolworth on November 6, 1948 in Elk Point, South Dakota. John judged both amateur and professional boxing, even judging a world championship match. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time on the river, and was the oldest contestant to win the River Raft Regatta. John loved music, playing the harmonica, and shooting pool, but his greatest love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine and the Masonic Triangle Lodge #643. John is survived by his wife Geraldine Eik of Sioux City; children: Steve (Jessica) Eik of Punta Gorda, FL, Debbie Eik of Sioux City, and Randy (Marshalle) Eik of Johnson City, TN; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Hansen of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be given in John's memory to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
