Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. There will be a rosary service lead by the Knights of Columbus at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Maryann was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Bell, California to Joseph and Alva Louise (Lee) Fischer. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1957. While in high school she enjoyed acting in school and local theater. Maryann married Richard N. "Dick" Krommenhoek on Jul. 30, 1960 in Elk Point, South Dakota, and together they had six children. She worked as a dental hygienist, a billings clerk for Northwestern Insurance, and in telephone sales for MCI for ten years, but her main profession was worrying over her children and grandchildren. At this, she was a master. Maryann balanced her worry with a deep faith she taught each one of them by word and example. She was patient, to a point, and had a very clear picture of the world and how things should be done. She valued a clean house and a clean conscience. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage. Left to remember her always are her husband; sons Ric (Sarah) of Sioux City, Chris (Barbara) of Tulsa, Ok., Brett of Davenport, Ia., daughters Colleen (Brad) Stolpe of Obert, Ne., and Megan (Michael) of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Barger of Sioux City, brothers Greg (Sharon) Fischer of Sioux City, Roger (Pat) Fischer of Sioux City, Harry (Sam) Fischer of Rochester, Mn., and Mark (Betty) Fischer of Sioux City. Maryann was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Courtney Ann; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth. The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland for their wonderful care and support these past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maryann's name to the Carmelite Nuns or Trinity Heights.
