Nick H. Nelson, 85 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Sunrise Retirement Center in Sioux City. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Paul Andell, of the Morningside Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Nick was born on December 31, 1929 in Frazee, Minnesota to Nickolai and Hilda (Hansen) Nelson. He received his education in Frazee, graduating from Frazee High School with the Class of 1949. Nick continued his education at a business college in Fargo, North Dakota before he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country in the infantry from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Nick married Virginia Stallman on October 22, 1955 in Detroit Lake, Minnesota. He worked as a Sales Manager with Land-O-Lakes Dairy in Marshall and Jackson, Minnesota. He retired from Land-O-Lakes in 1980, and that's when the couple moved to Sioux City. Nick and his wife Virginia owned and operated the Palmer House Motel until 1991. Nick was a past member of the Amerian Legion and the Sertoma Club. Nick is survived by his children Paula Brummond and her husband Greg of Lawton, IA, Bradford Nelson and his wife Lisa of Yorkville, IL, Patti Robinson and her husband Tom of Lawton, IA, and Jason Nelson and his wife Tami of Germantown Hills, IL; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia in September of 2014, 9 sisters, and one brother. Casket Bearers for Saturday's service will be grandchildren Jasmine Nelson, Nick Nelson, Ben Nelson, James Brummond, Gregory Brummond, Jordan Brummond, Chad Robinson, and Bryce Robinson. Honorary Bearers will be grandchildren Noah Nelson, Tucker Nelson, Evan Nelson, and Grace Nelson.
