Shirley D. Edwards, 87, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on April 23, 2015. Services will be held at Crescent Park United Methodist Church on Monday, April 27th, at 11:00 am with Reverend Scott Squires officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM with a prayer service 7:00 pm. at the Northside Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Shirley was born on September 3, 1927 to O.T. and Alice (Smith) Bower in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She married Loyal G. Jensen on September 19th, 1947. They were married for 27 years and had three sons. She then married Clyde Edwards on April 29th, 1977. They were married until Clyde's death on December 29th, 2013. Shirley and Clyde moved to Deer River, Minnesota in 1991 upon retirement until they returned to Sioux City in 2006. She worked for a few years at Pet Village in Sioux City. She was then employed by Continental Baking, Wonder Bread Thrift Stores for many years until retirement. Shirley was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church where she was active in various clubs. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards and baking for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Laura) Jensen of Phoenix, AZ; Keith (Barbara) Jensen of Sioux City, IA; Craig (Marilyn) Jensen of Sioux City, IA. Two sisters, Esther Hoeck of Morehead, MN and Betty Kuhlmeier of Baton Rouge, LA. Six Grandchildren: Sheri Griese of Sioux City, Keri (Dan) Acosta of Phoenix, AZ, Nichole Vern) Plum of Omaha, Ne, Kristi (Brian) Baker of Tuscan, AZ, Jessica Jensen of Sioux City, and Brandt Jensen of Ames, IA. Special friend, Jeff Finken of Sioux City, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Clyde Edwards, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita Perkins, Hazel Bramble, and Virginia Hoppe: her brothers John Bower, Lester (Pete) Bower, Bill Bower, and infant brother George Bower. Memorials can be made to Crescent Park United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Siouxland.
