Oakley D. Swan, 93 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. April 27, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home. Oakley was born on January 19, 1922 in Monroe, Kentucky to Henry A. and Dorothy (Ennis) Judd. At the age of 8, the family relocated to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where Oakley graduated from Scottsbluff Public Schools with the Class of 1940. On October 7, 1943, Oakley married Rueben Swan in Scottsbluff. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1945, where Oakley worked for Sioux City Battery and Swift Company until her career with Verzani Printing. She was an Offset Pressman at Verzani, working for 22 years before her retirement. Oakley enjoyed camping, cross-stitching, painting, playing piano, and singing with the Trailmasters Band. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a past member of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. Oakley is survived by her son Rueben "Chuck" Swan and his wife Pamela, daughter Deeann Teska, and son Allen Swan and his wife DeDe, all of Sioux City; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Oakley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rueben in 1989, and brothers Laron Judd and Wendell Judd.
