Ruth Krommenhoek Kelly passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Lilette Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Ruth was born on December 9, 1917 in Pierson, Iowa to Flecher and Cecile (Wilcox) King. She received her education in Moville, Iowa. Ruth married Harry Krommenhoek in Elk Point, South Dakota on September 11, 1937. She was a homemaker until 1954. During the World War II, the couple lived in Seattle, Washington, relocating to Sioux City in 1943. She worked at the National Food Stores in Sioux City beginning in 1954, and retired after 22 years. Her husband Harry passed away in May of 1965. Ruth married James A. Kelly on August 20, 1966 in Sioux City. Ruth was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, an outstanding seamstress, an avid golfer, and she loved to garden. She traveled south for the winters with her husband Jim and enjoyed being a "snow-bird" heading to Arizona and Texas. Ruth loved to dance, especially to 1940's era music, and was proficient at the Jitterbug. She loved to hike the many miles of trails in Arizona during the winter months. Ruth is survived by her son Terry Krommenhoek and his wife Frances of Sioux City; son Loren Krommenhoek and his wife LaVonne of LeMars; son Harry "Pard" Krommenhoek and his wife Mary Ann of South Sioux City; son David Krommenhoek and his wife Carol of Sergeant Bluff; daughter Kathleen Shull of Sioux City; grandchildren (also acting as honorary pallbearers) Matthew (Cathy) Krommenhoek, Jennifer (Terry) Svendsen, Susan Linn (John) Gould, Michael (Audry) Krommenhoek, Jeremiah Krommenhoek, Harry Krommenhoek III, Rhonda (Brian) Barker, Rebecca Harris, Jason (Stacey) Krommenhoek, Heather (Brandon) Hope, Kelly Shull, Adam Shull, and Michael Shull; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers Flecher King Jr. and Melvin King, sisters Lilva Harmes, Fern Larson, and Laura Grout, and one grandson Johnathan Krommenhoek.
