Earl Ashmore, age 72, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Touchstone Living Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The family will be present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Earl Eugene, son of Norman Ashmore and Doreen (Ashmore) Kortum, was born February 1, 1943, at Correctionville, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City. He then joined the service and served with the Army National Guard. Earl worked at Mac's Speedy Car Wash and Concrete Pipe before working as a bartender. On March 21, 1986, Earl was united in marriage with Charleen Johnson in Sioux City. Throughout the years, Earl enjoyed camping, fishing, watching football, cooking, playing cards, stock car racing, and giving people a hard time. Earl is survived by: his wife Charleen Ashmore of Sioux City; sons: Earl Ashmore of Minnesota; Robert (Jennifer) Ashmore of Sioux City; and Michael Ashmore and fiancée Nickey of Minnesota; daughters: Laura (Scott) Ulrich of Sioux City and Andrea Ashmore of Wisconsin; brothers: Terry (Sheri) Kortum and Randy (Brenda) Kortum, all of Sioux City; sisters: Jan Thompson of Illinois and Kay (Jerry) Reed of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren: Willie, Derik, Jacob, Eric, Adam, Shannin, Michael, Kali, Kyla and Konrad; four great-grandchildren: Nadia, Noah, Nolan and Aubree; and by special family members: Tony (Judi) Simoni of Dakota Dunes; Ron (Kay) Simoni of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Carlos (Christi) Simoni of Florida; Michaeleen (Michael) Beard of Eugene, Oregon; Jean (Jerry) Purcell of Dewitt, Iowa; Theresa (John) Mumm of Omaha, Nebraska and Cathy (Dan) Eberhart of Dewitt, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Ashmore, sister Mary Ruble and a granddaughter Katie Clapper.
