SIOUX CITY | Alice J. Bonowski, 80, of Sioux City entered into rest on Monday, April 13, 2015 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with the family present 6-8 p.m., a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Alice was born Sept. 24, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Edwin and Mary (Monstavich) Wilkinson. On Feb. 9, 1952, she married Karl J. Bonowski in Sioux City, IA. Together they raised seven children. Alice was employed as a messenger for 12 years at Marian Health Center. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Alice loved fishing, crocheting, knitting and baking for her family. She also enjoyed jigsaw and word puzzles, playing cards, and board games. She loved animals, especially her pet dogs. Alice loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice will also be remembered for her great sense of humor. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Karl; 7 children, Karl Bonowski of Sioux City, Rita Barry of Las Cruces, NM, Michael Bonowski of Sioux City, Vicki Banks of Sioux City, Jeffrey Bonowski of Le Mars, IA, Larry Bonowski of Sioux City and Kelly (Cathy) Bonowski of Sioux City; 4 siblings, Rosemary Conway of Garland, TX, Thomas (Helen) Wilkinson of Hubbard, NE, Frank Wilkinson of Garland, TX and Dick (Vicky) Wilkinson of North Sioux City, SD; 14 grandchildren, David Barry, Rebecca Barry, Jennifer (Brian) Henning, Michael Colling, Melissa Colling, Lucy Bonowski, Michael Chesher, Jacob Chesher, Karlee Banks, Larry Bonowski, Jr., Nina (Joey) Fitchett, Daniel Bonowski, Leah (Billy) Welch and Alison (Joshua) James; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings: William Wilkinson, Robert Wilkinson, Jesse Wilkinson, Delia Deeney, Buddy Wilkinson, Mary Lou Wilkinson, and Pearl Curl; 2 grandsons, Christopher Barry and Nicholas Bonowski; and a son-in-law, Reginald Banks. Pallbearers will be David Barry, Michael Chesher, Jacob Chesher, Daniel Bonowski, Marc Curl and Michael Colling. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bonowski, Jr. and Floyd Curl.
