Mary Lou (Schulte) Duling, 84, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mary Lou was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Newcastle, Neb. She was the daughter of John T. and Elizabeth A. (Ross) Kneifl. Mary Lou grew up on the family farm near Newcastle and she graduated from Newcastle High School in 1949. Mary Lou married Carl J. Schulte on Sept. 14, 1949, in Newcastle. They owned and operated Schulte Construction for many years. Along with their happy marriage, Mary Lou and Carl created and operated a successful business. They were inseparable partners in life and business. Carl died July 21, 1982, in Zearing, Iowa. Mary Lou married Gerald Duling on Jan. 19, 1991, in Lincoln, Neb. He died May 10, 2008, in Lincoln. Mary Lou was a very kind and caring person and would do everything she could to help others. Mary Lou was presently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and had taught CCD classes while she was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and Mexico, gardening, cooking and baking bread. Survivors include her children, Gerald J. Schulte (Mary) of Virginia Beach, Va., Robert Schulte of Sioux City, and Jeanne Severe (Tom) of Webster City, Iowa; a brother, Michael Kneifl Sr. of Dixon, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Kneifl of Palmdale, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Noah Schulte, Marshall Schulte, Emily Simoni, T.J. Schulte (Kristi), Kegan Schulte (Kim), Molly Schulte, Matthew Severe, Chad Severe and Jessica Higgins (Charles); and six great-grandchildren, Kassidy Simoni, Brandon Lane, Theo Schulte, Emmet Schulte, Jayden Campbell and Aurora Schulte. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and 10 brothers and sisters, Phillip Kneifl, William Kneifl, Elizabeth Calvert, Richard Kneifl, Harold Kneifl, Florence Travers, Cecelia Breslin, Esther Schulte, Patrick Kneifl and Marie Kneifl. Pallbearers will be Noah Schulte, Marshal Schulte, T.J. Schulte, Kegan Schulte, Matthew Severe and Ray Kneifl.
