John A. Stroman

March 21, 1957 — April 7, 2015

John Stroman, age 58, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at his home in Sioux City. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Tess Panamarrow officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM, and a Prayer Service at 7 PM. John Anthony Stroman, son of Duane "Duke" and Rose (Weick) Stroman, was born March 21, 1957, at Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1975. On April 23, 1976, John was united in marriage with Katherine Webster in Sioux City. Five children were born to this union. They were married for 25 years. John worked at Roberts Dairy, M & S Auto Parts and Sieg Auto Parts before joining Walmart, where he worked for 25 years. Throughout the years, John attended St. Boniface Church. He enjoyed playing the organ, doing yard work, working on cars, baking and cake decorating, going to the bargain shops, doing handyman work and fixing chicken and noodles. He can fondly be remembered as always carrying around a cup of coffee. John is survived by two sons: Mark (Kindra) Stroman of Sioux City and Bryce (Amber) Stroman of Onawa; two daughters: Beth (Bruce) Elgert of Sioux City and Leona (Dana) Smith of LeMars; eight grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Smith; Dylan, Shelby, Lilliana, Zoey and Tyler Stroman; Cheyenne Elgert; a great-granddaughter Spencer Smith; Four brothers: Dan Stroman, Larry (Jan) Stroman, Bruce (Betty) Stroman and Kenny (Lois) Stroman; a sister Rosella Goodwin; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Stroman and a child "Baby Stroman."
