Sonja D. Sigaty, 77 of Sioux City passed away Wednesday March 25, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Craig Collison officiating. Visitation will be Monday Night from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel Sonja D. Sigaty was born November 15, 1937 in Mapleton, Iowa the daughter of Glen and Mary (Steinback) Olson. She moved to Sioux City at the age of four. She graduated from Austin TX, High School and attended Edwards Business College, USD, Briar Cliff, Morningside and WIT. She was employed as a case worker with the State of Iowa. Sonja was an active volunteer at many places in the Sioux City area. She was President of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary, Member of American Legion, and Life Long Learning at WIT. Sonja was a Girl Scout Leader for 18 years, first person to belong to the blood bank, Red Cross Instructor and taught Catechism at Sacred Heart for three years where she was a member Sonja is survived by one daughter Stasia Sigaty-Elgert and her husband Dale of Sioux City, One son Mark Signaty and his partner David Milan of Kansas City MO. Sister Glenda Bousquett and her husband Leo of Dakota City. Grandchildren: Roy Barker, Mary Adams, Sonja Barker, Anthony Sigaty-Jager, Kayla Lubben, Little Roy Barker, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers Arlo and Arnold Olson and his wife Patricia, one son Robert Sigaty, one daughter Robin Barker, one granddaughter Aubrey Sigaty and one nephew Jeff Olson.
