Susan Schmidler-Hunter, age 54, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, surrounded by family at her home. Services are pending at Nelson-Berger Funeral Home. Susan Lynnette, daughter of John C. and Marilyn (Hamm) Schmidler, was born December 30, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from high school in Marysville, Kansas. Susan then returned to Omaha and attended UNO for two years to be a paralegal. She then raised four children and was a stay-at-home mom. In 1992, the family moved to North Platte where she worked at Sitel and Cabela's. On August 5, 2001, Susan was united in marriage with Michael Hunter. They made their home in Sioux City. Susan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While she lived in Omaha, she was very active with the Hope Coalition. Susan enjoyed playing the online game "Everquest" where she met many people and made numerous friends. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren. Susan is survived by her parents: John and Marilyn Schmidler of North Platte, Nebraska; husband Michael Hunter of Sioux City; four children: Benjamin Crees of Omaha; Sonia Todd and husband Tyrone of Omaha; Tamara Crees of Sioux City and Dennis Crees of Sioux City; two grandchildren: Caden and Breana Todd; and a sister Shari Schmidler of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
