Frances Boyer Whitcomb, 98 of Sioux City passed away Sunday March 22, 2015 at a Sioux City nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday March 27, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and a friend to many and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Thursday March 26, 2015 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Whitcomb was born January 21, 1917 in Sioux City Iowa the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Moon) Boyer. She attended Whittier Elementary, East Jr. and graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1935. She then attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska majoring in music. Frances gave piano lessons in Sioux City for many years. She married McClellan Whitcomb on September 10, 1941 in Denver Colorado he preceded her in death on April 3, 2000. Frances was a member of the Sioux City Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served in several church offices. She also served as the church pianist/organist from the time she was about 12 years old until the age of 90. Frances is survived by two sons and their wives, David and Cheryl of North Augusta, South Carolina and Allen and Sheri of Sioux City. A daughter and her husband Janice and Robert McClendon of Baytown, Texas, Seven grandchildren, Mark, Steven, Cindy, Hilary and Lance Whitcomb, Kerry Scheu and Eric McClendon and 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband McClellan of 59 years and parents.
