SIOUX CITY | Walter T. Williams, 74, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at a local hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, IA. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with the family present 5-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Walter was born July 19, 1940 in Anthon, IA the son of Walter C. and Gladys (Coyle) Williams. He grew up in Anthon and graduated from Anthon High School in 1958. He attended the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy. On June 18, 1960 he married Laura M. Sands. Together they raised three children, Susan, Tom and Jamie. Walter started his career as a pharmacist in Marshalltown, IA where he worked at Gregor Drug for five years. He moved to Sioux City and was employed at Toller Drug and then at White Drug. In 1970, Walter purchased Williams Drug as an independent pharmacist. He operated the store for 35 years and retired in 2005. Beside the cherished time he spent with his family, he enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing and being outdoors as much as possible. Walter was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He is survived by his wife, Laura; 3 children, Susan Chandler and her husband, Don of Rockwood, TN, Tom Williams of Las Vegas, NV and Jamie Milligan and her husband, Greg of Ames, IA; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Chandler and his wife, Laura, Daniel Chandler and his wife, Megan, Kaitlyn Milligan and Mark Milligan; 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Chandler and Elliott Chandler; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Judy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to First United Methodist Church or to the Humane Society.
