Donald Thoms 83, of Sioux City passed away Saturday March 14, 2015 at a Sioux City care facility. Funeral services will be Monday March 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Community Church Visitation will be Sunday March 22, 2015 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and Prayer service at 7:00p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Donald Thoms was born April 20, 1931 in Kingsley, Iowa the son of Alice Thoms and attended school in Kingsley. He entered the United States Army Serving as a private from August 20, 1952 until August 7, 1954. Mr. Thoms was employed as a custodian with the Sioux City Community Schools for 22 years. He married Wanda Nicolai June 21, 1954 in Amsterdam, Netherlands she preceded him in death January 7, 2012 Mr. Thoms was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Post # 64 Mr. Thoms enjoyed playing cards with his friends, attending North High School sporting activities and attending all of his grandchildren activities. he loved to travel and remain active while he lived at Bickford Memory Care attending any activity he could. During his younger years when the weather allowed he enjoyed working in the yard. Mr. Thomas is survived by two daughters Melinda Surber of Sioux City and Laurie Kistner and her husband Kirk of Sioux City, and his grandchildren Erin Malcolm, Brian Malcolm and fiancé Laura, Lee Kara Kistner, Kody Kistner and his fiancé Kelsey Mc Cauley and Kaci Kistner. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wife, one daughter Marguerite "Margie" Thoms and son in law Stanley Surber
