Carl J. Noltze, Jr., 89, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Per his wishes, he will be cremated. A visitation with family present will be on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Chaplain Bev Hurni officiating at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Carl was born on July 24, 1925 in Sioux City to Carl J. and Helen Mar (Hockensmith) Noltze, Sr. He graduated from Central High School. He later graduated from Morningside College in 1962 and received his MSW from USD in 1972 and later received his Doctorate in Psychology from Arkansas. He served his country during the Korean War and extended his service with the Air National Guard for 25 years retiring as a Master Sergeant from the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Carl also served his community from 1957 to 1964 working as a Sioux City Police Officer. He worked for the Woodbury County Juvenile Court from 1964 to 1975 and later taught Police Science at WITCC from 1976 to 1988. He was united in marriage to Grace Wiltgen on January 3, 1948, to this union 3 children were born. Carl enjoyed riding his motorcycle, flying his private airplane, traveling to various places around the world, spending time with his family and taking his companion Iris dancing. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, Civil Air Patrol and The Experimental Aircraft Association. He is survived by his daughter Carley J. (Dave) Hurni of El Mirage, AZ; son Charles F. (Geri) Noltze of Sioux City; and daughter Barbara A. Madison of Englewood, CO; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and his special friend Iris Lamb. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to give a special thank you to hospice of Siouxland and the caring staff at Holy Spirit Retirement Home for their comforting and loving care for Carl.
