Lori J. Steenhoven, 50 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Sunnybrook Community Church. Pastor Jeff Moes will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday all at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Lori was born October 22, 1964 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Louis "Gene" and Shirley (Stading) Rupp. Lori was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1983 and then graduated from Iowa State University in 1987. She married Joel Steenhoven June 20, 1987 in Sioux City and they have resided in Sioux City since. Lori worked for the South Sioux City Chamber of Commerce after graduation for 5 years and then worked at St. Luke's Hospital and then St. Luke's College of Nursing part-time until her health forced her to stop working. Lori was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church and volunteered for many activities including the hospital and throughout the community. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her shopping times with her mom and daughter, traveling with her son to activities, her special times with her special friends, playing and refereeing volleyball and following the Iowa State Cyclones. Survivors include her husband Joel, two children: Lindsay and Ben Steenhoven; her father: Louis "Gene" Rupp all of Sioux City; her mother in law: Kathy Steenhoven of Doon, IA; a sister and brother in law: Kim and her husband Tom Donahue of Sioux City; a sister in law, Denise Steenhoven of Rock Rapids, IA; four nieces and nephews: Ryan and Riley Donahue and Natalie (Matt) Robinson and Jesse Steenhoven and several special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Lori was preceded in death by her mother: Shirley Rupp; father in law, Arlen Steenhoven; brother in law, Jim Steenhoven and a cousin, Becky Clark. Pallbearers will be Ryan Donahue, Jesse Steenhoven, Rich Servis, Craig Clark, Dan Junck and Mark Walz. Memorials can be directed to Sunnybrook Community Church, The June E. Nylen Cancer Center or Hospice of Siouxland.
