Gordon Weltz

Gordon Michael Weltz, age 70, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at his home. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Gordon Michael Weltz, son of Arthur and Florence (Theisen) Weltz, was born May 6, 1944, at Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. He then attended Briar Cliff College for three years. Gordon served in the military and upon his return, worked in a local packing house. He then was employed by Metz Baking for 15 years before opening his own sandwich shop called Chef's Delight which he owned and operated for many years. During his retirement, he worked as a greens keeper at Dakota Dunes Golf Course. On August 3, 1963, Gordon was united in marriage with Mary Lemek at Elk Point, South Dakota. Four children were born to this union. The family made their home in Sioux City. Gordon enjoyed watching movies, spending time on his computer, flower gardening and woodworking. Gordon is survived by four children: Laura Arnold of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Michael Weltz and wife Jo Dee of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Kelly Weltz and wife Sara of Sioux City; Racquel Weltz and friend Rick Brienzo of Sioux City; nine grandchildren: Carol, Erika, James, Mikey, Josh, Jordan, Paige, Kallie and Jake; and one great-granddaughter Beatrix. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister Pat Brophy.
