SIOUX CITY | Jack C. Sweeney, 84, of Sioux City died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Northern Hills Assisted Living. Per Jack's wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no services or visitation. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jack was born Oct. 2, 1930 in Sioux City the son of Michael and Mary (Johnson) Sweeney. He graduated from Central High School and Morningside College. Jack received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of Colorado. He served with the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953. Jack was a longtime teacher in the Siouxland area, including Sergeant Bluff and South Sioux City. After 40 years of teaching typing and bookkeeping, he retired in 1995. He enjoyed computers, taking care of his yard and tending to his flower beds. Survivors include a nephew, Michael Sweeney and his fiancée, Mona Ibach of Sioux City, a niece, Debbie Dalton and her husband, James of Knoxville, TN, a nephew, Tim Sweeney and his wife, Michelle of Omaha, NE and a niece, Kathy Hudson and her husband, Sam of Omaha, NE; and great nieces and great nephews.
