April 26, 1948 — February 27, 2015

Susan Elgert, 66, of Sioux City passed away from a lengthy illness at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Susan was born on April 26, 1948 in Osmond, NE to Clarence and Lucile (Noecker) McCormick. She was married to Tom Elgert on June 22, 1968 in Sioux City, Iowa. Susan worked for many years for Wal-Mart, a job she was very proud of. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, painting, golfing, gardening, and she was an animal lover. Susan also enjoyed volunteering her time to many different places, including Meals on Wheels, giving rides to the cancer center, teaching aerobics and was an active member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Tom Elgert of Sioux City; son Michael (Debbie) Elgert of Sioux City; daughter Christina (Brandon) Fick of Sioux City; grandchildren Jessica, Kristen, Matthew, Ryleigh, Adriana, and Nate; sister Gayle Foard of Little Rock, AK; brothers Dan (Evelyn) McCormick of OR; Jack McCormick of Correctionville, IA; Kelly McCormick of Correctionville, IA; and Patrick McCormick of Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Chad Elgert and a brother Roger McCormick.
