SIOUX CITY | Marjorie J. (Zieske) Meyer, 88, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital following a stroke on Feb. 3, 2015. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be at a later date in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Huron, S.D. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences can be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Marjorie was born on Dec. 16, 1926, in Huron, S.D., to Lawrence and Hazel (Lyon) Zieske. She attended public schools in Huron, graduating from Huron High School in 1944. In 1948, she graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, S.D. Following which she received a BSN degree from South Dakota State University in 1949. In Huron, she nursed at St. John's Medical Center and Tschetter-Hohm Clinic. Following her move to Sioux City in 1968, she was a school nurse for the Sioux City Public Schools, until retiring in 1986. On June 10, 1951, she married Kerwin "Fritz" Meyer at First Presbyterian Church in Huron. Marjorie was devoted to her family and friends and dedicated to her church as a deacon, a member of circle, Mariners, Koiwinia, and Bible study. She was a member and past president of Sioux City Retired Educators, TTT Chapter F.A., and P.E.O. Chapter IA. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Kerwin "Fritz" Meyer; daughter, Kathryn Zebert of Wheeling, Ill.; grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Hedberg of Vancouver, Wash., and Matthew Zebert of Palatine, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Ashya and Ayden Hedberg; sister-in-law, Peggy Zieske; and nephews, Scott (Tonya) Zieske and Rick (Sue) Zieske. Kerwin's sisters, brothers, and their families have always been a part of her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Elizabeth; and her brother, Robert L. Zieske.
