Carol Lea Rice, 89, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at a Sergeant Bluff nursing home. Services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Ridge Cemetery, Fremont, Neb. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Carol Lea Rice was born on Dec. 25, 1925, in Fremont, Neb., the daughter of Wayne and Mable (Wisdom) Yaryan. Carol graduated from high school and attended college. She married Robert W. Rice in 1946. To this marriage four children were born. Carol was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol was a member of Morningside Assembly of God Church. Carol is survived by her children, Brian Rice and his wife, Marcia of Maple Grove Minn., Barry Rice of Thailand, Connie Phelps and her husband, Ron of Emporia, Kan., and Cindy McCabe of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jack Yaryan.
