SIOUX CITY | Stuart L. Oliver, 76, of Sioux City passed away from complications of Alzheimer's on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at Morningside Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Stuart was born March 16, 1938 in Sioux City the son of Kermit L. and Donnabelle (Stuart) Oliver. He grew up in Lawton, IA and graduated from Lawton High School in 1956. He attended Morningside College and graduated with a degree in business. He served with the 185th Air National Guard from 1957 until 1968. On June 5, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie L. Anderson in Lawton, IA. Together they raised 4 children, Kevin, Kendal, Keith and Cindy. Stuart owned and operated multiple small businesses and later was a self-employed home contractor for over 40 years. He retired in 2012. He was a longtime, active member of Morningside Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an usher. Stuart belonged to a 500 card club for 57 years. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, traveling, camping with friends, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities. One of Stuart's favorite activities was spending his Fourth of July with his family lighting fireworks for the town of Belmond, IA. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; 3 sons, Kevin Oliver and his wife, Sheryl of Sioux Falls, SD, Kendal Oliver and his wife, Kerri of Olathe, KS, Keith Oliver and his wife, Amy of Sergeant Bluff, IA; a daughter Cindy Oliver of Friendswood, TX; a sister, Sharleen and her husband, Lynn Sorum of Belmond, IA, a brother-in-law Jack Anderson and his wife Gene of California, and a sister-in-law Sally and her husband Larry Manker of Sioux City, IA; 9 grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Jake, Hailey, Karson, Abby, Erin, Mitchel and Lukas; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Morningside Presbyterian Church, PACE, or to Hospice of Siouxland.
