SIOUX CITY | Mary K. Davis, 69, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Casa de Paz surrounded by her family. Our sister angel passed away after being cared for by many wonderful staff members for 11 years at Casa de Paz. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Mary graduated from Central High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Dave Davis at St. Boniface. To that union they had 2 daughters and 8 grandchildren. Mary lived in Des Moines all of her adult life working in the medical field. When she became ill, her family returned her to Sioux City where she resided with her brother, Eugene, then her sister, Ava until her disease required more extensive care. Mary loved people, especially her family. She was a hard worker and enjoyed movies and reading romance novels. Mary will always be our sister angel. She showed unconditional love with her big smiles and "I love you's". She forged a trail of laughter, generosity and compassion and love of family. Mary was truly an angel flying too close to the ground. Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Christina Barnhardt and Julie Davis and 8 grandchildren, all of Des Moines; brothers, Eugene Smick of Sioux City and Dennis (Stacey) Smick of Fort Myers, FL; sisters, Barbara (Darrel) Greenough, Ava (Larry) Swanberg and Sue (Danny) Lambert all of Sioux City; and a special family friend, Chris Lethcoe of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Smick. A special thank you to Hospice.
