Margaret C. "Peggy" Delaney, 82, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Peggy was born October 3, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Florence (LaVelle) Coolidge. Peggy grew up in Sioux City and was a proud member of the first graduating class of Heelan High School in 1950. Peggy married the love of her life, Davey E. Delaney, on February 22, 1955, in Sioux City. He passed away on December 21, 2000 in Sioux City. They shared 45 blissful years together. Peggy worked outside of the home for several years but devoted most of her time to raising her 7 daughters. She was a devout member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering with her friends at the Bargain Center. Peggy was a vibrant woman who involved herself in many activities and had many hobbies. She enjoyed bowling in her early days, golfing, playing bridge, and had a passion for playing the piano. Peggy's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Survivors include her seven daughters: Janie Rife (Ron) of Lincoln, NE, Geri Murray (Mike) of Atlanta, TX, Jennifer Murphy (Joe) of Sioux City, Amy Feltz (Todd) of Waterloo, NE, Brigid Delaney of Sioux City, Julie Delaney of Gilbert, AZ, Kerry Moody (Mike) of Dakota Dunes, SD; a sister, Florence "Poodie" Sponder; a sister-in-law, Sally Early of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Brian Delaney of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Davey; two infant daughters, Michaelene and Mary; a sister, Mary Dreis; and a granddaughter, Courtney. Memorials may be directed to the Pride Campaign at Bishop Heelan High School.
